Analyzing the Wal-Mart Issue
The issue of Wal-Mart's effect on society is a complicated one. The company does bring lower-priced goods to a community - but those prices come at a cost in depressed wages, worse health care benefits, bankrupted local businesses, increased welfare expenditures, etc. The Christian Science Monitor today tries to take a look at all the issues - and does a decent job of presenting both sides of the argument.
