Pay-to-Play Alive and Well, Even After Katrina

Montana newspapers have featured this and this expose on how the lobbying industry in Washington, D.C. has spiraled out of control. No longer just a cottage business, lobbying has become a massive industry. It has gotten to the point where lawmakers like Rep. Denny Rehberg (R) openly recommend their own constituents get lobbyists, instead of relying on their congressional representatives. And in case you thought there were some issues that were exempt from this greedy industry of legalized bribery, just take a look at this LA Times story about how even the post-Katrina Hurricane aid has been dominated by lobbyists.
