The Progressive Center & the Need for Ideology

Earlier this week, I did a magazine piece about the need for ideology. It followed on a piece I did late last year about how the political "center" was actually much more progressive than it is portrayed by either politicians or the media. Now, Paul Waldman has a great article in the American Prospect that seems to tie those two concepts together. Give it a read - while I don't agree with all of his assertions about where America's center is on every issue, in general he's right on target. America is far more progressive than it is painted as - and a party that articulates that progressive center is a party that will be a majority party over the long-haul.
