Seriously, Who Pays These People To Spew Their B.S.?

Yesterday, I pointed out how Charlie Cook has made a career spewing conventional wisdom in Washington, D.C. It is literally like he subscribes to National Journal's Hotline, and then goes around spewing it back to people - and sadly, many Democrats seem to listen to him. Now, Cook's twin, Stuart Rothenberg, is out there doing the same, once again telling Democrats that they must continue supporting the war.

In a Washington Post story today, Rothenberg says:

"If you're thinking about how [supporting a withdrawal] looks from the general election, it's problematic, because if you're a Democrat, you want to be hawkish...You have to show strength, consistency and conviction and changing [positions] would be a problem for them."

Seriously - I really can't believe these guys get paid for this. Here we have every major poll in America saying the public thinks the war was a mistake and that the Bush administration misled the country, and these D.C. blowhards are still running around telling Democrats they must support the war. It's right out of Orwell's 1984 - these pundits think that if they just keep repeating their standard manure, then it will be true. Here's hoping Democrats finally stop listening to this nonsense, and realize the important political debates are out here OUTSIDE the beltway, and not among the increasingly inane chattering class in D.C.
