Getting On the Bus In Oregon
It's 8:30am Saturday morning and I'm sitting in the Portland, Oregon airport after giving a speech last night to hundreds of activists who work with the Oregon Bus Project. They are a terrific group that is really reinvigorating the progressive movement here. Among those who spoke were Dan Cantor, executive director of the Working Families Party and former Congressman Les Au Coin (D-OR) - and it was a really well-attended event. There's a real grassroots progressive energy here in a state that is one of the most closely-watched swing states in the country. The Bus Project is an inspiring story about people really engaging in not just partisan campaigns, but movement politics. It is, in short, what the future of the progressive movement is all about.
